Your First Appointment
For your first appointment at Central Dermatology Clinic, we recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to ensure the maximum time is available for your appointment. We will ask you to fill in a patient questionnaire to collect your medical information.
We recommend you bring the following items to your first appointment at Central Dermatology Clinic:
- A current referral
- Copies of any relevant blood tests, biopsy or test results and any other documentation you think may be relevant to your consultation
- A list of your current medication
- Any photographs of your skin problem (where relevant)
- A current Medicare card
If you are visiting Central Dermatology Clinic for a skin check, spot check or for a facial skin problem, we recommend you remove your make-up prior to the consultation.
In many cases, your dermatologist may need to perform a skin biopsy to make an accurate diagnosis of your problem or if a skin cancer is suspected. There is an additional cost for a skin biopsy.
On some occasions, if an early skin cancer is identified during your examination the dermatologist may recommend treating it at the time of consultation. Again, there are costs additional to the consultation cost for treating skin cancers. Rebates from Medicare are generally available for skin biopsies and treatment of skin cancers for holders of current Medicare cards.
